Description
The BioFire™ is a biometric door lock featuring the same advanced, breathrough technology as its sister locks, the BioKnob™ and BioLever™ but offers an attractive lever handle instead of a knob. It is thereby approved for installation where ADA conformance is required for the disabled.
It retains the same small footprint that allows it to be inserted into the typical cutouts for standard door latches. At the pivot of the outside lever is a tiny sensor that converts then registers the thermal pattern of users' thumb or fingerprint. Up to 1000 users can have their fingerprints enrolled in the BioFire for entry.
Ordering the BioFire requires specifying either a left or right hand lever. Facing the door from the outside, the side of the hinge is the choice, i.e. if hinge is on the left, you want a Left-handed BioFire.Unobtrusive buttons and a small display allow all programming and settings to be done at the lock with no external wiring or computer needed.

FAQ
How is the BioFire different from other fingerprint locks?
The BioFire is distinguished from other biometric locks in many ways that are detailed in subsequent FAQs. However, in general: 1) It is designed, developed, assembled and supported in the 2)it features the latest fingerprint recognition technology, 3)it has a unique, compact form, 4)it features exclusive functions, and 5) is made of top grade mechanical materials.
How many fingerprints can you store?
100 people can have their fingerprints enrolled in the standard model BioFire. Higher capacity units are available on special request.
How many managers can control the BioFire?
Up to 5 Administrators can be designated, and any of them can add or delete fingerprints.
What is the Audit Trail?
The latest 1000 entries are recorded by User ID, date and time of day. To retrieve the data, you use the key pad to cycle through the recorded entries which appear on the LCD display.
Can I store fingerprints from several of my fingers?
Yes, and enrolling at least two fingers, such as one from each hand, would be useful in case the selected finger is cut and bandaged up.
What kind of battery does it use and how long do the batteries last?
This fingerprint door lock uses rechargeable ion lithium batteries that work for at least 1000 openings. There will be an alarm to tell you when they are getting weak, at which time there will be about 50 entries more.
How are the batteries charged?
You plug in the connector wire from an AC adapter and leave plugged in for about 3 hours.
Can I wire in external power so I don’t have to charge the batteries?
Yes, the BioFire allows permanent connection of power through an external source.
Can I set up the lock to be unlocked during the day?
Yes.
Can someone break into the lock and steal the fingerprint images?
No. There are no fingerprint images in the lock and no way to reconstruct pictures of a fingerprint from the data. The lock senses a thermal pattern from your finger and stores a template of minutia points that cannot be interpreted by anyone else except our lock.
Can someone sneak up to the lock when no one is looking and lift off an image of a fingerprint, then construct a fake finger that can open the lock?
Unlike most other fingerprint devices using a small glass window where you impress your finger, the BioLever has only a sensor strip across which you stroke your finger. The sensor strip senses a thermal pattern. There is no surface to leave a fingerprint. Therefore there is no danger of anyone detecting a fingerprint, duplicating a fingerprint, faking a finger to enter, or even getting an image of your fingerprint.
What is the warranty period?
One year against all defects or inability to operate at the premises.
How difficult is the installation?
The BioFire is designed to fit into the standard US door, wood or metal, that has the standard backset of 2 3/8 or 2 ¾ and a standard 2-1/8" diameter hole. For most doors, installation requires only one Phillips screwdriver.
Is the BioFire weather proof?
Yes. It is water resistant against the usual weather elements, such as rain, snow or dust.
Do you lose all the fingerprints if the batteries go dead?
No the fingerprint templates are in non-volatile memory.
What kind of sensor does it use?
It uses a thermal sensor that is the same one used on IBM’s fingerprint-password keyboard. However, our algorithm is more powerful to handle a much more challenging job: 1) To verify one fingerprint out of a hundred or more fingerprints, 2) to operate within the limitations of a small, battery-operated microprocessor, and 3) to function in an outdoor, weather-prone environment.
What if the battery is totally dead when I come home after a long vacation?
The BioFire has a emergency backup system in such an event. A standard 9 volt is applied to inconspicuous terminals under the lock for temporary powering of the lock.
Can I delete one person at a time?
Yes.
Can I delete everything at one time and reset to factory defaults?
Yes.
Can the BioFire withstand a seaside environment?
Yes, the lock has been tested against direct saltwater spray for 72 hours.
